CHARDHAM YATRA BY HELICOPTER

Kedarnath. Badrinath. Gangotri. Yamunotri. Four of the holiest shrines in Hinduism, all situated in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand — at altitudes between 3,100 and 3,600 metres. The traditional foot pilgrimage is physically demanding and often not accessible to elderly devotees, those with health conditions, or those with limited time.
Helicopter yatra services have transformed access to these shrines. Airlogic coordinates packages through DGCA-licensed operators running scheduled and charter services out of Dehradun, Haridwar and dedicated helipads at each shrine site — enabling a complete Chardham yatra in as little as four days.
We can arrange single-shrine visits, same-day return services to Kedarnath from Phata or Guptkashi, or complete four-dham packages with accommodation and ground coordination included.
Important: Booking Guidance
Season
Chardham helicopter services operate seasonally — typically May to October, weather and shrine opening dates permitting. Services are suspended during winter.
Book Early
Peak season slots — particularly May, June, September and October — fill months in advance. Enquire at least 4–8 weeks before your preferred date.
Kedarnath Same-Day
Same-day Kedarnath return from Phata or Guptkashi is the most in-demand service. Subject to weather and slot availability.
Complete Chardham Package

Weather Dependency
Mountain helicopter operations are weather-dependent. Delays due to cloud or visibility are normal and beyond operator control. Plan with flexibility in your schedule.

Airlogic sources the right operator, confirms aircraft availability, arranges landing zone assessments for venue-based services, obtains any required airspace or municipal permissions, and prepares a full cost quote. You receive one itemised price covering everything — no surprises on the day.

How far in advance do I need to book a wedding helicopter?
For weddings, we recommend a minimum of 4–6 weeks in advance to confirm operator availability for your specific date and venue. Peak wedding season in India — November through February — sees very high demand. For flower showers combined with an arrival, additional coordination is needed for flight path and timing. The earlier you enquire, the more options we can offer.
How does flower showering work? What can be showered?
The helicopter approaches the venue or gathering at low altitude and the crew releases petals or flowers through the door or a designated release mechanism. Rose petals are most common. Mixed flower petals, marigolds and specific auspicious flowers can also be arranged. The quantity, timing and flight path are planned in advance. Venue permission and safety clearance are obtained before the flight.
When can I book Chardham Yatra helicopter services?
Chardham helicopter services are seasonal — broadly May to October, aligned with shrine opening dates and mountain weather. Kedarnath, which opens around Akshaya Tritiya (April/May), is the busiest service. We recommend enquiring by March for peak season dates. Gangotri and Yamunotri have similar seasonal windows. Badrinath services run a slightly longer season.
Can elderly or physically restricted passengers use helicopter yatra?
Yes — this is the primary reason helicopter yatra exists. The helicopter eliminates the foot trek to the shrine, which can be several kilometres in steep mountain terrain. Passengers with mobility restrictions, cardiac conditions or those who would not manage the physical demands of the trek can make the pilgrimage by helicopter. We advise on medical fitness requirements for high-altitude operations.
What happens if the weather is bad on my booked date?
Mountain helicopter operations in particular are weather-dependent. Cloud, low visibility and strong winds can prevent operations on any given day — this is beyond operator control and is a known feature of flying in the Himalayas. Most Chardham packages build contingency days into the itinerary. For wedding and event services, we advise building a backup plan. Cancellations due to genuine weather are not charged by most operators — we clarify this at quotation.
How many passengers can a joyride helicopter carry?
Standard joyride helicopters in India — typically the Bell 407, Airbus H130 or similar — carry 4–6 passengers alongside the pilot. The specific aircraft available at your location determines the capacity. We will specify the aircraft and passenger capacity in your quote.
Are all helicopters DGCA licensed?
Yes. Airlogic only coordinates helicopter services through operators holding valid DGCA Air Operator Certificates for rotary-wing operations. All aircraft are maintained to DGCA standards with valid Certificates of Airworthiness. Pilots hold DGCA commercial helicopter licences with appropriate type ratings.
